one another with a pure heart fervently: being
born again, not of corruptible seed, but

of incorruptible, by the word of God,
which lives and abides forever. 12 Don’t be

foolish, but understanding what the will of the
Lord is; not drunk as with wine, wherein is
excess; but be filled with the Holy Spirit. 13

Be sober, and be vigilant; because your
adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks

about, seeking whom he may devour.

14 Submit yourself to God. Resist the devil,

and he will flee from you. Draw close to
God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse
your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts,
you double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn,

and weep: let your laughter be turned to tears,
and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves
in the sight of the Lord, and he will lift you up.
Do not speak evil one of another.
