is enmity with God? Whoever then will be a
friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do you
think that the scripture says in vain; The spirit
that dwells in us lusts to envy? But he gives
more grace. That is why he says, God resists
the proud but gives grace to the humble.

So submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you. 16 Seeing that we are
also surrounded about with so great a cloud of
witnesses let us lay aside every weight, and sin

which so easily besets us, and let us run with
patience the race that is set before us; looking
to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is
set down at the right hand of God. And
consider him who had endured such

contradiction of sinners against himself,
lest you be wearied and faint in your minds.
