you are not of the world, and I have chosen you
out of the world, so the world hates you.

Remember the word that I said unto you: The
servant is not greater than his lord. If they have
persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if

they have kept my saying, they will keep yours
also. 10 Be strong in the grace that is in Christ
Jesus; and the things that you have heard of me
among many witnesses, commit to faithful men
who shall be able to teach others as well.

Endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus
Christ. No one that wars entangles himself

with the affairs of this life; that he may please
him who has chosen him to be a soldier. 11
Brethren, the time is short: it remains, that
both they that have wives as though they had
none; and they that weep, as though they wept
not; and they that rejoice, as though they
rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they
possessed not; and they that use this world, as
not abusing it: for the fashion of this world

passes away. 12 Love not the world, neither the
things that are in the world. If anyone loves
the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
