Lamb of God
John (the Baptist) answered them, saying, I
baptize with water: but there stands one
among you, whom you know not; it is he, who

is coming after me, has been before me,
whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to
unloose. These things were done in Bethabara
beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

The next day John sees Jesus coming to him,

and said, Behold the Lamb of God, which
takes away the sin of the world. This is he of
whom I said: After me comes a man

which is preferred before me: because

he was before me.

I did not know him: but that he should be made
manifest to Israel, therefore I came baptizing
with water. And John bare record, saying, I saw
the Spirit descending from heaven as a dove,
and it rested upon him. And I knew him not:

but he that sent me to baptize with water, the
same said to me: Upon whom you shall see
