abiding in him. Hereby we perceive the love of
God, because he laid down his life for us: and
we ought to lay down our lives for the

brethren. But whoever has this world's goods,
and sees his brother have need, and denies
compassion for him, how dwells the love of
God in him? 7 As we have then the opportunity,

let us do good unto all men, especially unto
them who are of the household of faith. 8 If

any provides not for his family, and especially
for those of his own house, he has denied the
faith, and is worse than an infidel.

9 Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, by which
you are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger,
and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away

from you, with all malice. And be kind to one
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God for Christ's sake has
forgiven you. 10 Because now the axe is

laid to the root of the trees: and every

tree that does not bring forth good fruit
