Neglect
1 We ought to give more earnest heed to the
things we have heard, lest at any time we
should let them slip. For if the word spoken by
angels was steadfast, and every transgression
and disobedience received a just recompense
of reward; how shall we escape, if we
neglect such a great salvation; which at
the first was spoken by the Lord, and was
confirmed to us by them that heard him?
2 These things command and teach. Let no one
despise your youth, be an example of the
believers in word, lifestyle, charity, spirit,
faith, and purity. Until I come, give attendance
to reading, exhortation, and doctrine. Neglect
not the gift that is in you, which was given
to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the
hands of the presbytery. Meditate on these
things; give yourself entirely to them; that your
profiting may appear to all. Watch yourself and
to the doctrine; continue in them, in doing so,
you will save yourself and those who hear you.
